Choosing baby names can be confusing, and one must decide if he or she likes a popular or an unusual name. Pro’s and con’s are bound to arise in both, but let us analyze the reasons for choosing them, nevertheless. Baby boy names and baby girl names must be carefully chosen. A child detests having his name incorrectly pronounced – it can be acutely embarrassing during a graduation or a prize distribution event. Also, it gives the child a boost as he/she can be confident enough to get the first spelling presented right. Well, a child would feel terribly embarrassed if he/she cannot spell her own name! So, dear parents, just because you have a record for making to through the first few rounds of the Spelling Bee, don’t expect your child to do so, from the time he begins to spell. Now, why do we call them ‘popular names’ in the first place? Exactly. They are POPULAR! Well, at least, an Adam or a Sandy or a Rose will not get teased as much as a Hepzibah.

Now, an uncommon name, on the other hand, helps the child to, literally, stand out from the crowd. One can be rest assured that after growing up, there are very high chances of finding two or more Michael Smiths. Also, in a class of children, a teacher may get confused while identifying children having the same name. Here’s where an unusual name comes into play. No confusion, only great distinction! But, at the same time, one must keep in mind that spelling and pronunciation must always be considered. Keep it unusual, but keep it simple.
